Ramsbury is a large village in the Kennet Valley surrounded by the North Wessex downs, designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ (ANOB).
The popular village of Ramsbury has many amenities including various shops, pubs, a doctors surgery, a primary school graded by Ofsted as Outstanding and a new pre-school.
The nearby market towns of Marlborough and Hungerford are close at hand and the larger commercial centres of Swindon and Newbury are about 14miles away. The M4 motorway can be accessed at Junctions 14 and 15 and there are trains to London Paddington from Swindon, Hungerford and Newbury. There are numerous footpaths and bridleways surrounding the village. Ramsbury is in the catchment area for St. John’s School in Marlborough.

Why move to Ramsbury?
Reasons people want to move to Ramsbury are varied but you cant get past Ramsbury’s excellent Location – the village sits in the middle of rolling English countryside, in the picturesque and unspoilt Kennet Valley in the Marlborough Downs. Ramsbury is well connected – the M4, A4, B4192 (Swindon – Hungerford) and A346 (Swindon – Marlborough) all run nearby – but the village itself is set back from main roads. Peace and quiet and clean air guaranteed.
Commutability – Marlborough is seven miles to the west and Hungerford just five miles to the east. The M4 (J14 and J15) lies just to the north and London and Reading are easily commutable via Hungerford (1 hour to Paddington), Newbury or Swindon. Residents also commute to Bristol.
The community boasts a thriving primary school, a large modern doctors surgery, shops, a post office, an historic church, 2 excellent pubs and a licensed branch of the Royal British Legion, and a wide range of clubs, societies and services, including bowls, golf, cricket, netball, tennis and football. There are also clubs for painting, theatre, ballet and music.
Many historic properties, especially those on the High Street, don’t have off-street parking which can cause issues for residents and visitors. Housing with off-street parking is highly desirable. We’ve even got royal connections!
The village sits alongside the water meadows of the River Kennet, so there can be a risk of flooding to low lying areas, particularly on the south side of the High Street where cellars are prone to flooding when the water table is high.
Prices in the area tend to remain strong due to Ramsbury being a highly desirable place to live. Demand is always high and very good houses seldom come to the market. It is hard to get a ‘bargain’ in Ramsbury, as it is widely thought of as one of the best villages in Wiltshire.
There are a good mix of housing types, and property styles – period through to modern – thatch to pvc double glazing. There is surely something to suite your taste and budget.
