Ramsbury Best Village

WINNERS! Ramsbury IS The Best Village

Award Winning Best Village in Wiltshire

We all think Ramsbury is a rather special place but we’ve had a dig around in the local archives and found the proof! Ramsbury first won Best Large Village in Wiltshire way back in 1961, then AGAIN in 1971, 1972, 1982 and 1986 (so we must have won Best Large Village in Kennet in those years as well) but I have no further details of these earlier years.

We’ve checked back as far as the records go. Ramsbury has always entered in the Large Village category and fared as follows:

2018 – 1st in Kennet for the Best Kept Village competition and 3rd in the County

• 2017 – 5th in Kennet
• 2016 – 3rd in Kennet
• 2015 – 3rd in Kennet
• 2014 – 5th in Kennet
• 2013 – 2nd (one point behind Dinton) in the Laurence Kitching “Winner of Winners” Award
• 2012 – 2nd in the Laurence Kitching “Winner of Winners” Award
• 2011 – 1st in Kennet and 1st in Wiltshire (by a clear 6 points).
• 2010 – 2nd in Kennet
• 2009 – 1st in Kennet and 2nd in Wiltshire
• 2008 – 1st in Kennet and 4th= in Wiltshire
• 2007 – 2nd in Kennet
• 2006 – Did not enter
• 2005 – Did not enter
• 2004 – 1st in Kennet and 3rd in Wiltshire
• 2003 – no info available

A big shout out to Mike from CPRE Wiltshire for his help in providing this information.
